Core Aeration
To core aerate is very important for the health and root development of your lawn. A core aeration machine is used to pull 1” plugs from your lawn to allow water and air into the soil.

Mowing
We recommend, and we set out lawn mowing machine blade height at 3”. Regular sharpening of the blades is essential to avoid leaf damage and also, cleaning underneath, to reduce the spread of weeds. Watering the lawn early in the morning is important, because the early sun burns of the moisture residue avoiding disease and root damage.

Dog Spot
To reduce the effects of pet urine add water immediately, diluting the urine and washing it off the blade.

Disease
Fungus attacks leaves, roots and stems of the grass. This can be avoided by not over fertilizing, core aerating regularly, having good soil drainage and not cutting your grass to low.

Fertilizing and Mulching
Fertilizing ensures distribution of nutrients to your lawn. A healthy lawn resists weeds and helps it recover from pest damage when infestation occurs. A fertilized lawn holds up against foot traffic much better and potassium enriched fertilizer withstands severe temperature changes.
Mulching protects plant roots and beautifies the landscape beds, also it helps reduce weed infestation and kills small weeds. Its organic and holds moisture longer for sustain plant growth.

Tree and Shrubs
We recommend fertilizing trees and shrubs, especially near driveways and sidewalks, where plants can’t naturally receive nutrients. In order to prevent insect infestation and defoliation or unsightly fungus, a pre-emergent preventative needs to be applied. Dormant oil can be applied in the fall to fill unwanted overwinterizing insects.

Watering
Lawn requires 1” of water per week and should soak five to six inches. Too little water encourages more annual weeds and too much water replaces the oxygen in the soil killing the grass. Core aeration is very important to balance the intake of water in the lawn.

    Things to note:
    More shade needs less water.
    Slopes or hills need more water.
    Sandy soil needs more water.
    Clay needs less water.

When watering shrubs, trees or grass water faucet generally flows at 5-6 gallons per minutes. So when watering, think of 1 gallon milk jug and time it in accordance to what you think the plant needs.
1 gallon would be approximately 10 seconds on the plant ball.
2 gallons would be approximately 20 seconds and so on…

Weeds and Lawn Pests
Regular inspection of your lawn prevents weeds and pests, and will help you obtain a clean healthy lawn.

Pruning
Regular pruning of trees and shrubs helps to stimulate regular new growth and prevents overgrowing. Also, it gives manicured look to your property, keeping your planting neat and tidy.

Seeding and Restoration
Spot seeding should be done regularly to fill bald spots, keeping your lawn full and lush. If your lawn is thin it should be slice seeded, which is a machine that slices open the ground and inserts seeds.
For un-level or totally weeded lawns, we suggest total renovation, which entails killing the lawn with vegetation killer, adding fresh topsoil and re-grading it.
